I hate hypes! Actually I was one of the few people who got sick of the coconut oil posts. Seriously? I come from the caribbean where coconut grows on trees every where and I truly just remembered drinking the water - which is delicious with rum by the way!
I am not saying that coconut oil is not good for you or amazing for you. It has some great properties that I think everyone should be aware of. I just think sometimes things go too far and I absolutely hate the hypes which I usually take with a grain of salt. The fact that is natural is bonus points. I think we should strive to use as natural as possible. This not only applies to stuff for our skin but also our food and with everything we do within reason. I think trying is our best medicine and striving to do what you think is best for you and your family should be good enough. So yes, take everything with a grain of salt! What might work for you might not work for me as a person so you do what makes you happy and makes your life easier. After all stress is a bitch and a culprit that can be caused by obsessing with life.
So where am I going with this post? Whatever you decide to use oils for just do it because it is what you think it's right. Do your own research, try them ... we offer free samples! Please do not spend $100 on Frankincense because your girlfriend told you that it will cure your lazy eye if you drink it. Be an informed consumer, don't believe the hype and take everything with a grain of salt but if you add some lavender and jojoba oil to the salt it makes a great facial scrub!
From "A Skeptic's Guide to Essential Oils" In a Nutshell
"I think a grain of salt is in order no matter what your reading or who you’re listening to. There are probably some success stories that are no more than placebo effect. I also don’t really buy into the “life force” properties many ascribe to essential oils. *dodges rotten tomatoes*. However, I do find it hard to dismiss the long history of essential oil use and the many groups and individuals who really believe in their effectiveness. Not to mention the information I learned above about their influences on the body.
As for me, I’ve been convinced enough by my limited experience, the experiences of real-life people I deem reasonable and intelligent, and the research I’ve done so far, to take the plunge and make a good go of essential oil use in our home."
